Even There

Part One · the Father · 1 minute read

← Foundations

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?... If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.”
Psalm 139:7-10

The Truth

David runs the thought experiment: is there anywhere at all where God is simply not present. Heaven, no. The grave, no. The farthest edge of the sea, no. Every door he tries to slip through is already standing open with God on the other side of it, not chasing him down but already there, waiting.

We tend to think of God’s presence as something we access, like walking into a room he happens to be in. Scripture describes something stranger and better. There is no room he is not already in. Your worst hour, your most isolated season, your most shameful choice, none of it happens outside his presence. He does not have to travel to reach you there.

This changes what isolation actually means. You can feel alone. You cannot actually be alone, not in the way that matters most. The hand that holds you in the uttermost parts of the sea is the same hand holding you at your kitchen table on an ordinary Tuesday.

Wherever you are today, on the mountain or in the pit, say it plainly: even here. He already knew you would be here. He is already here with you.

Live This Truth

  • Name a place, literal or emotional, where you feel most alone.
  • Say out loud: even there, his hand leads and holds me.
  • Ask him to make his nearness felt, not just believed, today.

Prayer

Lord, I have felt far from you in places you never actually left. Let me know, not just believe, that your hand is already where I am. Even here, hold me. Amen.

Carry this today

There is no room he is not already in.
