“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These things are true sayings of God.”
The Feast
This verse names the ultimate feast this whole book has been building toward, the marriage supper of the Lamb, the final, comprehensive celebration all earlier feasts and celebrations this book has explored were, in some genuine sense, pointing toward, foretastes of this ultimate, still-future gathering.
Notice blessed are they which are called, this feast described as an invitation genuinely extended, not earned through sufficient personal accomplishment, but called, received as invitation, the same posture of grace this whole devotional’s exploration of overflow has been describing, gift rather than achievement, invitation rather than earned entry.
Notice also these things are true sayings of God, direct, emphatic confirmation, this is not merely poetic aspiration or uncertain hope, but true sayings, genuinely, actually certain, the marriage supper of the Lamb described with the same confidence scripture elsewhere reserves for its most certain, foundational claims.
As this movement nears its close, hold your own current overflow, however partial or imperfect, within this larger, certain hope. Whatever feast you have tasted across these thirty days is a genuine, real foretaste of this ultimate marriage supper still to come, blessed are they which are called, and you, genuinely, are among the called.
Keep the Feast
- Consider today’s overflow as a genuine foretaste of this ultimate, certain feast.
- Receive your own calling to this marriage supper as genuine invitation, not earned achievement.
- Rest today in these true sayings of God, certain, not merely poetic aspiration.
Prayer
Lord, thank you that these are true sayings of God, not merely aspiration. I am called to the marriage supper of the Lamb, and today’s overflow is a real foretaste of it. Amen.
Carry this today
You are genuinely called to the ultimate feast, not earning your way toward it.
