Every Joint Supplieth

Part Three · Sent · 1 minute read

← The Fellowship

“From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Ephesians 4:16

The Body

Paul describes the whole body’s growth as dependent on every joint supplying its own particular contribution, not merely a few prominent parts carrying the whole body’s function while other parts remain passive or uninvolved. Every joint, every part, according to its own particular measure, contributing to the whole body’s actual increase.

This is worth examining against community that has quietly settled into a pattern where a small number of visible, active members carry most of the actual ministry, while the majority remain passive recipients rather than genuine contributors. Paul’s picture here assumes every joint supplying something, not merely a few prominent joints doing all the actual work.

Notice the outcome named: maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This is not merely functional efficiency, but growth and edification, the whole body genuinely strengthened when every part, not merely the prominent parts, actually contributes according to its own particular measure.

Consider today whether you have settled into passive reception within your own community, allowing others to carry the actual ministry while you remain uninvolved, or whether you are genuinely supplying your own particular joint’s contribution, according to your own measure, toward the whole body’s actual increase and edifying in love.

Strengthen the Body

  • Examine honestly whether you have settled into passive reception within your community.
  • Identify your own particular joint’s contribution, according to your own specific measure.
  • Supply that contribution today, concretely, toward the body’s actual increase.

Prayer

Lord, let me supply my own particular joint’s contribution, according to my own measure, not remain a passive recipient while others carry the actual ministry. Amen.

Carry this today

Every joint supplies something. The body grows when every part actually contributes.
