Died in Faith

Part Three · Crowned · 1 minute read

← The Finish

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.”
Hebrews 11:13

The Finish

This verse names something worth holding as genuine, sobering honesty, died in faith, not having received the promises, worth examining directly, these named heroes of faith did not see every promise fulfilled within their own actual lifetime, and yet, died in faith regardless, this incompleteness not disqualifying their genuine faithfulness.

This is worth holding as needed permission against whatever pressure you feel to see every hoped-for outcome genuinely completed within your own remaining years. This verse’s own named heroes did not, and their faith is recorded here, in this very chapter, as genuinely, fully commended regardless of this real incompleteness.

Notice seen them afar off, were persuaded of them, and embraced them, this described posture worth applying to whatever promise remains genuinely unfulfilled in your own life, worth holding with this same combination, seeing afar off, genuine persuasion, actual embrace, even without full, complete realization within your own lifetime.

Whatever promise remains genuinely unfulfilled, or seems likely to remain unfulfilled within your own remaining years, receive today this verse’s own honest permission. Died in faith, not having received the promises, and yet genuinely, fully faithful regardless, this same faithful pattern worth trusting as genuinely available to you.

Finish Well

  • Name honestly what promise remains unfulfilled, or seems likely to remain unfulfilled, in your own life.
  • Receive this verse’s permission, dying in faith without full realization does not disqualify faithfulness.
  • Practice today seeing afar off, persuaded, embracing, even without complete, actual fulfillment yet.

Prayer

Lord, like these heroes of faith, let me die in faith, even without having received every promise. Let me see them afar off, and be persuaded, and embrace them regardless. Amen.

Carry this today

Dying in faith without full realization does not disqualify genuine, complete faithfulness.
