Their Works Do Follow Them

Part Three · Crowned · 1 minute read

← The Finish

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
Revelation 14:13

The Finish

This verse names two things together worth noticing directly, rest from their labours, and their works do follow them, worth holding as this final movement’s own comprehensive picture, genuine rest finally granted, and yet, simultaneously, genuine, continued impact, works that actually, genuinely follow, not lost or ended.

This is worth holding as needed comfort against whatever fear that death represents total, complete ending, all impact genuinely, permanently lost. This verse insists otherwise, works do follow them, worth trusting as genuine, continued significance, not despite death, but genuinely, actually extending beyond it.

Notice rest from their labours, worth holding alongside this continued following, both true together, genuine rest finally, fully granted, no longer requiring ongoing, exhausting effort, and yet works still, genuinely following, worth trusting as comprehensive comfort, both rest and continued significance, held together.

Whatever fear of total, final ending your own mortality may produce, receive today this verse’s own comprehensive comfort. Rest from their labours, genuine, complete rest finally granted, and their works do follow them, genuine, continued significance, both true together, worth trusting as this whole book’s own settled hope.

Finish Well

  • Notice any fear that death represents total, complete ending, all impact genuinely lost.
  • Receive today this comprehensive comfort, both genuine rest and genuinely continued, following works.
  • Consider what works you hope will genuinely follow you, and invest in them deliberately today.

Prayer

Lord, let me rest from my labours when my time comes, and let my works genuinely follow me, not lost, but continuing, this comprehensive comfort held as my own settled hope. Amen.

Carry this today

Death brings genuine rest from labor, and genuine works that continue to follow, both true together.
