← The Full

“And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.”
Luke 12:15

The Comparison

Jesus names a direct, comprehensive claim here, consisteth not, worth examining precisely, life itself, genuine life, named as not fundamentally located in abundance possessed, worth holding as this movement’s own needed correction against whatever comparison has quietly assumed the exact opposite.

This is worth applying against however much your own sense of a genuinely full life has depended on comparative abundance, more things than others, rather than this verse’s own direct claim, life consisteth not there, worth examining what your own actual understanding of genuine life currently, honestly rests upon.

Notice take heed, and beware, active, deliberate warning, worth holding as needed vigilance, this connection between abundance and genuine life not automatically, naturally understood correctly, but requiring this described, ongoing, deliberate guarding against the opposite, more common assumption.

Consider today what your own genuine life actually, currently consists in, if not comparative abundance, and take heed, deliberately, against whatever covetousness continues quietly assuming otherwise, trusting Jesus’s own direct claim as worth genuine, ongoing vigilance and correction.
