Thirty Days · Untamed, Tested, Tamed
Read this the way you would actually examine a weapon you carry every single day without thinking about it: honest about how much genuine damage it is actually capable of, willing to learn real discipline, patient enough to let it become something that genuinely builds instead.
For the next thirty days you are going to look honestly at your own words: what the tongue is actually, honestly capable of, what real, practical discipline over speech actually requires, and what it means for words to become genuinely life-giving rather than merely restrained. This will not be a study that treats careless speech lightly. It takes the danger as seriously as the hope, because you cannot tame what you have never honestly named.
The work is arranged in three movements of ten days each. First, Untamed: the honest, sobering truth about the tongue’s actual, genuine danger. Then, Tested: the real, practical discipline of guarding what actually comes out of your mouth. Then, Tamed: what it means for speech to become genuinely wholesome, a tree of life instead of a source of harm.
Each day gives you the same tools. A verse to anchor you. A short reflection to be read slowly, not skimmed. A response to actually live out in an actual conversation, because truth you only agree with changes little the next time you open your mouth. A prayer to pray in your own words. And one line to carry with you into the day ahead.
How to use it: read one day at a time, unhurried, in order if you can. Let the reflection meet your actual speech, not a hypothetical version of it. Actually do the response. Pray the prayer, then keep praying in your own words.
All Scripture here is from the King James Version. No man can tame it alone. Begin.
“The tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:8
