“For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
The Face
Thirty days ago this book began with in his own image, the first thing scripture says about human identity. It closes here, with the face of Jesus Christ, the fullest, clearest expression of God’s own glory, the actual face this whole book’s exploration of seeing, knowing, and transformation has ultimately been pointing toward.
Notice hath shined in our hearts, the same light that once commanded creation itself into being now described as shining specifically within you, not merely observed from a distance, but genuinely internal, the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, located specifically in the face of Jesus Christ, now shining in your own heart.
Look back over these thirty days, seen, known, transformed, and notice they were never really separate movements, but one continuous unveiling, the same face, God’s own, first seen in creation’s image, then known through adoption and belonging, finally transformed through beholding, all of it culminating here, in the face of Jesus Christ.
You began this book learning you were made in his own image. You end it here, with that same image now specifically named, the face of Jesus Christ, shining in your own heart, the fullest, clearest expression of everything this whole book has been describing about who you actually, genuinely are, and who you are still becoming.
Turn Your Face
- Write down the single truth from these thirty days that most reshaped how you see yourself.
- Name one specific way you will keep beholding, deliberately, past this book’s final page.
- Tell one person this week something true about your identity you did not know a month ago.
Prayer
Lord, you have shined in my heart, to give the light of the knowledge of your glory in the face of Jesus Christ. Let this light keep shining, today and every day after. Amen.
Carry this today
The face of Jesus Christ is where seeing, knowing, and transformation all finally meet.
The Face of Jesus Christ
Thirty days ago you began with in his own image, the first thing scripture ever said about who you are.
You know now: you were seen before you performed. You are known apart from others’ opinions. And you are being transformed, from glory to glory.
Whatever mirror you look into tonight, you do not look alone, and you are not still auditioning for acceptance.
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
