“Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
1 Corinthians 13:8

The Vine

Thirty days ago this book began with leaving and cleaving, the first planting of a covenant. It closes here, with the same word day nine introduced, charity, now named specifically for its permanence: never faileth, while prophecies fail, tongues cease, knowledge vanishes. Nearly everything else scripture names as spiritually significant is described here as temporary. Love alone is not.

This is worth carrying forward as the actual, final word over your own marriage. Whatever else has been true this month, planting done imperfectly, pruning endured painfully, harvest still only partially visible, charity, chosen and practiced, is the one thing Paul insists will not fail, the permanent center everything else in this book has been circling.

Look back over these thirty days, planting, pruning, harvest, and notice they were never really three separate topics. They were three seasons of the same single thing, love, doing the actual work love requires, choosing patience, choosing forgiveness, choosing honor, choosing presence, across an entire covenant life together.

You began this book learning to leave and cleave. You end it here, with the promise that whatever you have genuinely planted in charity across these thirty days, and across however many years your marriage has already spanned, will not fail. Carry this forward, not as a finished project, but as love, still abiding, still chosen, day after ordinary day.

Tend the Vine

  • Write down the single truth from these thirty days that most reshaped how you see marriage.
  • Name one specific way you will keep choosing charity, deliberately, past this book’s final page.
  • Tell your spouse this week something true about your marriage you did not know a month ago.

Prayer

Lord, charity never faileth, and I trust that over our marriage today. Whatever I have planted, pruned, or harvested this month, let love be what abides, chosen again tomorrow. Amen.

Carry this today

Charity never faileth. Let it be what abides, chosen again, every ordinary day.

Charity Never Faileth

Thirty days ago you began with leaving and cleaving, the first planting of a covenant.

You know now: the pruning was not loss. The harvest, however partial, is already real.

Whatever season your marriage is in tonight, you do not tend it alone. Keep planting. Keep pruning. The harvest is still coming.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
