The Peace of God Shall Keep

Part Two · Ask for Wisdom · 1 minute read

← The Fork

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7

The Path

Paul names a specific process here worth applying directly to a genuine crossroads: prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, requests made known unto God, followed by a promised result, the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keeping your hearts and minds, not necessarily the answer itself immediately clarified.

This is worth noticing precisely, because the peace promised here does not require the actual decision to already be resolved. It comes through the process of prayer and supplication itself, guarding hearts and minds even while, potentially, the specific direction of the crossroads remains not yet entirely clear or settled.

This offers a needed word against the anxious agitation many crossroads produce, as if peace can only arrive once the decision has been fully, clearly resolved. Paul’s promise here suggests peace, genuine and guarding, is available through the process of bringing this specific request to God, even before full resolution has actually arrived.

Whatever anxious agitation your own crossroads currently produces, bring it today, specifically, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, and trust this verse’s promise that the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, can genuinely guard your heart and mind, even while the actual decision remains, for now, still unresolved.

Walk the Path

  • Bring your current crossroads to God today, specifically, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.
  • Trust that peace can guard your heart even before the decision is fully resolved.
  • Notice any anxious agitation, and release it specifically into this process today.

Prayer

Lord, I bring my request to you by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. Let your peace, which passeth all understanding, guard my heart and mind, even now, unresolved. Amen.

Carry this today

Peace can guard the heart even before the decision itself is fully resolved.
