Put On the Whole Armour

Part Two · Armed · 1 minute read

← The Foe

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
Ephesians 6:10-11

The Battle

Paul names the actual source of strength here before any instruction about armor: be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might, not your own strength reinforced with additional equipment, but his strength, entirely, the actual power this whole armor is meant to channel and protect, not substitute for.

This second movement, turning from the first movement’s awareness toward actual, active equipping, opens with this crucial ordering. The armor does not create strength that was not already there. It protects and enables strength already given, in the Lord, and in the power of his might, the genuine, prior source.

Notice put on, an active, deliberate verb, not passive hope that armor will simply appear when needed. This whole armour of God requires actual, deliberate putting on, a genuine, ongoing choice, not automatic possession simply by virtue of general Christian identity without this active, specific appropriation.

Consider today what it means to actually, deliberately put on this whole armour, not merely believing it exists in theory, but genuinely, actively appropriating it, piece by piece, across the days this movement will explore, trusting the Lord’s own might as the actual source this armor is designed to channel.

Stand Firm

  • Examine whether you have been relying on your own strength rather than the Lord’s own might.
  • Put on the whole armour of God today, deliberately, as an active choice, not passive assumption.
  • Anticipate this movement’s coming exploration of each specific piece, preparing to actually wear it.

Prayer

Lord, be my strength, and let me put on your whole armour deliberately, actively, trusting your might as the actual source this armor is designed to protect and channel. Amen.

Carry this today

Armor channels strength already given. It does not create strength on its own.
